i fell in love with a huuuge pattern from Unconventionalxstitch. It’s Night at the Races by Omar Rayyan and i’m OBSESSED. i’ve been sitting on it for over a month and i still can’t stop thinking about it.

buuuut it’s 650x520 (338,000) stitches, 104 pages and 119 colours of confetti city.

i’m fairly new to cross stitch (still yet to finish a project) but i really love the craft. I’m chronically ill and it’s one of the only arts i’m able to do on a regular basis without making myself more sick. But unfortunately because of this i can only do about 100 or so stitches a day.

i know this pattern would take me years to complete and that isn’t really what bothers me, its more i’m worried about motivation with so many similar colours and so much confetti. i’m currently working on a small full coverage piece and making good time on it but i feel so unmotivated because its kind of ugly and not really an image i love or feel motivated to finish, and feels like i’m wasting my energy on something i don’t love, but I’m worried about the same thing happening with this piece.

i just don’t know whether its something even worth committing to since its so huge and idk… i have tried to find smaller pieces similar to it but nothing quite scratches my itch like this one.

idk im just so indecisive. if anyone has some tips on approaching big projects like this or wants to share your experiences with big projects i’d really appreciate it!
