My first large project! She’s ugly but she’s mine. ????

My mom left me a ton of yarn when she died and I’d never been able to get the hang of crocheting. Well, even after giving away bags and bags of it to my friends, I was left with tons of really nice yarn, and I figured I might as well give it one last shot.

This blanket is UGLY, but I was able to use up all the silk and wool yarn I had left. I’m so glad I chose this for my first large project (I made a much smaller baby blanket out of acrylic for my cats) and I purposely left all my mistakes. Like for example there are two sections where I clearly have major tension issues but I didn’t want to frog them so I’d always have a reminder of how far I’ve come. My mom always said it was the process of making art, not the result, that matters :)

This baby is absolutely no waste! I didn’t count rows and have no idea if my border is even and I’m totally fine with that. My cats have already claimed it and all of the cut-off ends will be used to fill a cat toy, my next project ????

I accomplished all the things I set out to do: 1. learn two new stitches (sc and moss), 2. learn how to make a corner, 3. learn how to carry multiple strands together without messing it all up, 4. learn how to weave in ends, 5. learn that I NEVER WANT TO WORK WITH SILK AGAIN
