B-17 Shenanigans
| After nine years of flying around making silly sim videos, one of them took off out of nowhere. It isn't unlike anything we have been up to before, but people seemed to enjoy the clip. But nonetheless here is an extended edit, for anyone who saw the shorter version and wished it was a few minutes longer. We frequently gather a bunch of random pilots into real Enduring Confrontation Simulation lobbies, such as the one in video, and just kind of hang out while we all shoot each other down or help each other along. We've got voice comms for both teams, or sometimes just have everyone in a big channel together. We do dogfighting, for sure; however, we also like to try and organize these little impromptu bomber waves. It almost never goes well... but that is never really the point. We just want to see the chaos! I used to struggle to find pilots willing to fly in these doomed formations... but one unintended consequence of GJ ruining the Sim economy with "Useful Action Windows" is that... everyone left playing Sim is really just there for the heck of it. As a result, ive had a far easier time finding people that say "screw it, sounds like fun, where are we spawning?" When I ask if anyone wants to bring some rickety bomber. The enemy team knows where are coming from, which is why youll often see them outnumbering us with purpose built interceptors armed with extra gun pods... stuff like that. But it makes for a heck of a show for us all. I haven't cared about stream sniping for years. If anything, I appreciate people going out of their way to ensure my pace of play stays hectic! Lol. If I am not watching my six, that is my problem. We'll give the bombers a go, once or twice, then swap into fighters to have a proper battle. New pilots join us all the time, and we've got thousands of users there to help answer questions or offer guidance. All viewers and participants are welcome to make suggestions or reccomendations as to what BR is flown or what aircraft/mission is undertaken. Nothing is really off the table in Sim. We can fly any BR, on any map, with any kind of weather, and use any aircraft we want against whatever enemies we want. It's a truly open world, even if it is a little broken due to years of GJ neglect. One major benefit that Air Sim still offers us, is the ability to have WAY more than just four friends inside the same game. Sim is lobby based, meaning you are free to join it, fly around as long as you like, then leave whenever you wish... and even rejoin the SAME battle later on. There are a few rules with balancing that might restrict which team you can join at any given time, but otherwise you are free to choose whatever room you want. MANY PEOPLE ARE NOT AWARE THAT IT IS LOBBY BASED LIKE THIS. Tons of people try to join Sim battles by hitting the traditional "to battle" button at the top of the Hangar. But this is just gonna chuck you into some random lobby... no control! Instead, if you click on "Events and Tournaments" then select "Air Sim", and then open the "ROOM LIST" you can see and select ALL THE ACTIVE SIM LOBBIES. Then just find where your buddies (or enemies) are at, and join the appropriate team. With this control, we can jam two dozen people into our own custom room... except it is a LIVE GAME LOBBY that pays real RP/SL. The boosters will run for 30 minutes per charge, if you activate any of them. If you're the type of player who is not as fascinated by "the grind" anymore, and are looking to learn a bit more about flying in Simulation mode so you can just have fun in a sandbox environment with your friends, give us a look over at r/WarThunderSim There are official discords and lists of creators there for you to dive into. Hope to share the skies with you soon. o7 WingalingDragon [link] [comments] |
