Royal King 6008 was my first brand new set, I'd had some very basic bricks and a single generic minifig as hand-me-downs. I still vividly remember my mom coming home from the store and surprising me with this! Money was very tight at the time, so getting any toy at a time of year that wasn't my birthday or Christmas was a huge deal.
