And to follow up my post on here from yesterday. We all get it. We all feel it. We all remember the old days. Lego is way more expensive now. Ive spent my fair share of energy cursing the prices of new sets and shouting how can they justify this. I still do and I won’t stop. I recently spent $300 of muh hard earned paycheck on 76271. It’s an absurd amount to spend on a Lego, but 20 minutes in to the build the amount of money I spent was the last thing on my mind. Just pure enjoyment of the hobby and praising the designers.

Both of these guys were 30 bucks each. The recent Exotic Parrot sets (31136 and 32144) were 20 bucks each. I had to scan the barcode when I browsed them in Target because 20 dollars for a set that good obviously someone labeled it wrong, I was full ready and willing to pay 60 bucks at least which was good price in my head at this point. Any set that’s “worth while” now is gonna be at least $100-$400. It sucks and it makes me sad and mad too. I think we’re all in agreement.

This just came to mind but I feel like it needs to be re-said. The Lego group was ON THE VERGE of bankruptcy back in the day. Before I was born. More than once. The Star Wars licensing deal is what saved the company. And it wasn’t even a certain deal! If it hadn’t been successful that would’ve been it. No more Legos.

What I’m trying to get at is its licensing. It’s become the mood that Lego is a money hungry entity that’s forgotten about the fsnnase in pursuit of the money with no second thought. It’s just not true. The Exotic Parrots example, the botanical sets..it entire Ideas program as a whole is the only example i should need. Lego is for the people!

The Great Deku Tree being priced as $300 is absolutely not ok tho and maybe proves this whole argument wrong. I do want to peak to someone about that.
