A positive take: LEGO has leveled up in the past few years

Some of my earliest good memories are of building legos. The first set I remember building is 7251. I couldn’t believe I finally had a Darth Vader minifig. The most expensive set in the Christmas catalog was the Death Star at ~$400. Me and my grandparents would look at it and laugh at how absurd a price it was for LEGO. Nowadays I’m laughing because it feels like the median price for a set.But I don’t want to talk about prices!

When I saw this Mario set pictured above it really hit me that we’re in the next age of LEGO design. It feels like the doors have been blown wide open and I couldn’t be more excited. LEGO has been putting out such a variety of different sets and themes lately I sometimes have to do a second take to confirm it’s legit and not some AI Temu ad. The latest of these being the Fortnite Peely Bone, then Mario above us here.

The stuff LEGO is willing to try nowadays I couldve never imagined! Video game collaborations like the Tall Neck, the hugely successful botanical collection, all the midi-scale sets and vignettes. It seems like there’s potential for anything now to be an official set and I’m looking forward to what comes next.

Love you LEGO
