What is the catch with this stone?
| I am new to buying stones, but my partner and I have been looking for sapphires for our engagement rings. I’ve been tracking parti/green-yellow sapphires online for a few months and I know there are lots of shops on Etsy selling poor quality or fake stones. However, I just came across a posting of a GSI certified 2.19ct sapphire in the exact colour and cut I’m looking for - for USD 420. Normally I’d be skeptical of gems at this price, but the GSI certification threw me off. If it is legitimate, this would be my ideal stone for much less than I was expecting to pay. This got me wondering - does a certification automatically mean the stone is good to buy? Or am I missing something obvious here?
