Inspiration
After trying a cocktail with Tequila and Cuban Rum, the idea dawned on me "What If I made a Pan-Hispanic coktail with all the different liquors from around the Spanish-speaking world?". Now, of course, this was impossible since there's too many and a lot of them (like aguardiente) do NOT mix well with other spirits. So I then decided (with some help from ChatGPT to just use an ingredient from each region/continent:
- Tequila ????????
- Añejo Rum (Caribbean and Central America) ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
- Pisco (South America) ????????????????
- Txokoli (or any light Spanish sparkling white wine) ????????
- Hibiscus Syrup ????????
- Date Syrup ????????
- Calamansi Juice ????????
Recipe
- 40 ml (2 1/2 tbsp) Tequila Blanco
- 25 ml (1 1/2 tbsp) Añejo Rum (I like Flor de Caña or Havana Club)
- 30-40 ml (2-2 1/2 tbsp) Pisco (Depends on whether your using Peruvian, which is stronger, or Chilean, which is milder)
- 25 ml (1 1/2 tbsp) Hibiscus syrup
- 2.5 ml (¼ barspoon/1 teaspoon) Golden Date Syrup
- 7.5 ml (½ tablespoon/barspoon) Calamansi juice
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) Txakoli Wine
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) Sparkling Mineral Water
- Fresh Mint to Garnish
Directions
- Fill a large wine glass or goblet generously with fresh ice.
- Add the tequila, pisco (start with 2 tablespoons and increase up to 2 ½ tablespoons if desired), añejo rum, hibiscus syrup, date syrup and calamansi juice.
- Stir genty
- Pour in the Txakoli and mineral water and stir lightly to integrate the flavors.
- Garnish with a fresh mint sprig.
Hope you give it a try! If you found better ratios, feel free to share!
