I’ve been needing a shoulder bag for a while, and after a lot of research I finally bought the Chloé 99 from Bloomingdale’s for 40% off (plus an extra $250 off for opening a Bloomingdale’s card, and another $275 rewards gift card). I was so excited - it’s so cute, like a smaller Paddington, perfect for my everyday needs, and super comfortable to wear. It was also my first-ever brand new designer bag purchase, which made it a big moment for me.

Unfortunately, I’ll be returning it. When you slide the zipper open, it detaches completely like a jacket zipper, and it’s incredibly difficult to reattach unless you set the bag down on a surface. I was honestly shocked they designed it this way instead of securing the zipper end into the stitching like most bags. I need to be able to open and close my everyday purse without worrying about sliding the zipper too far, especially a luxury bag. I’m really disappointed because I genuinely love everything else about this bag, and the deal was amazing.

So now I’m back on the hunt. I’d love recommendations for a quality black leather shoulder bag, on sale for under $1000 (ideally under $500), similar in size with some interesting design details (not fully “quiet luxury,” but not logo-heavy either). Open to any quality brands. Hoping to snag something ASAP during the Black Friday sales. Thank you so much in advance!
