Horsetails in Russian Demantoid Garnet

Horsetails in Russian Demantoid Garnet

As always the logo watermark is to reduce image theft. This is a Russian demantoid garnet I was fortunate enough to be able to cut from rough I sourced about a decade ago. For those not familiar with it, the "horsetails" are fine strands of chrysotile, an asbestos mineral. This rough came from the Ural Mountains, where this is characteristic, but they can also be found less commonly in demantoid from some other locales.
