Hi all — I am looking for some advice and posting here because I’m not sure where else to find it. My wife wants diamond huggie/hoop earrings for Christmas BUT she cannot get her ears pierced because of a medical condition. I went to a local jeweler and they told me that due to the high cost of gold, it would cost about $1500 (on top of the cost of the earrings themselves) to have the jeweler do a custom conversion into clip ons (salesperson described it as they would cut the post down and hand make a “loop” on the backside out of 14K gold that would “clip” the earring). This seemed incredibly expensive but I know absolutely nothing about jewelry so was hoping someone could opine if this is a bad deal.

Alternatively, I was thinking of potentially getting a totally custom set of clip-on earrings with lab grown diamonds made, but I have no idea where to even begin looking. Would love to get any ideas from you experienced lot! Thanks in advance!
