2 oz. Straight rye whiskey (High West MWND Act 13 49.3%)

1/3 oz. Benedictine liqueur

1/4 oz. Amaro Montenegro

2 dashes Aromatic Bitters (The Bitter Truth)

Stir with ice. Strain into an Old Fashioned glass over a large block ice cube. Garnish with a boozy cherry.

My alteration still has plenty of Benedictine to my tastes, but added some additional bittering elements from the amaro and a little more aromatic bitters. For my liking it’s less sweet than the OG, but still of the same lineage.

I purposely cracked the clear cube to give it a little sparkly flair for the holidays.
