Paloma a la Gimlet
| Recipe 2oz tequila 1/2 oz lime cordial 1/2 oz grapefruit cordial Add ingredients to a mixing glass. Add Ice. Stir for 20-30 seconds. Serve up in a chilled Nick and Nora. Garnish not necessary Background I recently made Jeffrey Morgenthaler’s lime cordial and absolutely fell in love. A gin gimlet, what a damn fine, easy to make cocktail. It made me to raise two questions: 1) What other cordials should I make? 2) What other base spirits should I play with? Grapefruit. Tequila. Paloma. I have always loved tequila and no matter how hard I try, Paloma’s just have never done it for me. So I went ahead and made my cordials and whipped this up to great success. I haven’t seen anything quite like this posted here or in a quick Google search so wanted to share! Lime Cordial - Recipe courtesy of jeffreymorgenthaler.com 250g sugar 8 oz/240 ml hot water 1½ oz/45 ml fresh lime juice (measured by volume) 8 grams freshly grated lime peel (or 1½ oz/45 ml measured by volume) 25 grams citric acid (1 oz/30 ml measured by volume) Combine all of the ingredients in a blender. Blend on medium speed for 30 seconds. Strain with a fine strainer. Bottle and refrigerate. Grapefruit Cordial 260g sugar 200g hot water 120g fresh grapefruit juice 48 grams freshly peeled grapefruit peel 20 grams citric acid Combine all of the ingredients in a blender. Blend on medium speed for 30 seconds. Strain with a fine strainer. Bottle and refrigerate. (I made the grapefruit recipe based on the lime recipe, using two large grapefruit and adjusting to taste. It likely needs some refinement but even still, left nothing to be desired in this cocktail) [link] [comments] |
