Adriatique: Aperol vs. Campari Face-Off
| I know I said that I wouldn’t go out and buy a fresh bottle of Aperol. What can I say? This cat got too curious. I just had to try it for myself and see if I agreed that using half as much Campari in place of Aperol produced the same effect. My determination? In an Adriatique, at least, I can say this about the two: Stick with the full measure of Aperol for a straightforward, perky, orange-tang experience. Go with half as much Campari instead for a beguiling, can’t-quite-place-it, whisper-of-grapefruit, mysterious depth. Either way, you can’t go wrong. The Adriatique ought to be a brunch staple. It’s that good. 1oz fresh-squeezed orange juice .5oz Aperol (or .25oz Campari) 1oz Amaro Montenegro Shake with ice, strain into coupe, garnish with an orange twist. Enjoy! [link] [comments] |
