The Ghost Ship
| I had an idea to try a floral tiki drink this weekend and decided to attempt to make it a reality. I knew I had to use creme de violette, St Germain, orgeat or falernum, lime and rum. Before I went off the rails I did a quick google search and found The Ghost Flower, featuring 1/2 creme de violette, 1/2 St Germain, 1/2 Orgeat, 1 lime, 3/4 pineapple, and 2 rum. As written it was way too sweet even without the pineapple. So I tinkered. Here's where I ended up: 2oz Don Q 3/4 Smith & Cross 1oz Lime 3/4 Pineapple 1/2 Violette 1/2 St Germain 1/2 Orgeat Several dashes of Absinthe While this is not the final version of this cocktail that I hope to make the extra rum went a long way to tamp down the sugar and the absinthe pulled in more herbalness. Unfortunately for tonight I ran out of St Germain so l can't try again. In the future I plan to try the following ideas: Nix the pineapple, up to a 1/4 of absinthe, maybe ditch the Germain. At some point I want to try this with gin.. we'll see but as of right now pretty decent. [link] [comments] |
