Anders’ Grenadine - Bad?
| Has anybody tried the Grenadine from Portland Syrups made in collaboration with bartender/youtuber Ander’s Erickson? I enjoy his channel immensely, learn a bunch from him, and have found he puts an emphasis on balance in his cocktails. So, I’m bewildered to find this grenadine to be overly sweet instead of tart, having strong notes of baking spice as opposed to pomegranate, and resistant to mixing well in drinks. Shaken drinks fair somewhat better but the spice notes still prevail above tart fruit. For the record, I’ve made grenadine from scratch and it’s another thing entirely. Also have enjoyed some other store bought ones, so I’m (hopefully) not just being a snob. The photo is a heavily stirred (!) Shirley Temple, and I had to pour the 7-up before the grenadine just to keep it from remaining a totally layered drink which wouldn’t mix. Hopefully my experience is an outlier and hoping for some other opinions. Thoughts?? [link] [comments] |
