I'm making little ceramic star earrings, and I need to attach them to chain or just straight to the ear hooks.

Historically I've been using headpins run through the earring from bottom to top like the lower picture.

However, I've been wanting to start soldering the loop together, and I'm not sure the headpin method will work the best.

I'm not worried about the heat damaging the ceramic, as it's fired to ~700 more degrees (c) than silver melts at. I am worried about soot or something getting buried in the glaze.

Please advise if I should switch to a "nose-ring" method of attaching the ceramic to the chain.
