Atholl Brose (Traditional Scottish recipe from 1475).

This mixture of oatmeal, water, whisky and honey might not have been a cocktail in its own time, but by today’s standards, it certainly qualifies.

RECIPE:

Soak three tablespoons of oatmeal in a little cold water overnight, then strain to collect the dram.

Stir in one tablespoon of honey until dissolved.

Add about 60 ml of Scotch whisky and stir until well blended.
