Lychee Conspiracy Theory
| I'm finishing up all the odds and ends in my liquor cabinet, and stumbled upon this super simple combination that tastes unmistakeably like lychee, despite having no actual lychee in it. Lychee Conspiracy Theory: 2 oz white rum 1 oz Luxardo Albicocca apricot liqueur Juice of one large white grapefruit 1/4 oz of water, if not using wet ice Shake with ice and double-strain. Luxardo Albicocca is not as versatile as Luxardo Maraschino. It's very sweet and tends to knock many drinks off balance. However, the grapefruit juice tames it, and the combination works in the same way a Hemingway daiquiri works, even without any lime juice. It's more complex than the ingredients suggest. I tried it with both red and white grapefruit, and the white one tasted much more like lychees, and had a more nuanced flavour overall. Both were delicious. [link] [comments] |
