Turnpike (from Regarding Cocktails)
| I wasn’t gonna post this one, but my bubble structure came out really nice. I found the recipe in “Sasha Petraske Regarding Cocktails.” Joseph Schwartz had this to say about the drink: “Another early Milk & Honey take on the sour, this was created to feature Laird’s applejack and rye. The name refers to the highway that links New Jersey, home of Laird’s, and Pennsylvania, home to Monongahela rye whiskey—to New York.” TURNPIKE 1 oz. rye whiskey 3/4 oz. applejack 3/4 oz. lemon juice 3/4 oz. simple syrup shake vigorously garnish with lemon wedge This cocktail has a wonderful balance between the lemon, applejack, and rye. Most of the time you see the rye/brandy combo, the rye is being used more to dilute the strength and sweetness of the brandy. This cocktail puts both on full display. If anyone is looking for a more spirit forward sour cocktail, this one is a perfect go-to. [link] [comments] |
