Pisco Punch
| So, yeah I like pineapple. A few weeks ago I watched a video on YouTube about the "authentic" Pisco Punch that both Mark Twain and Rudyard Kipling wrote about. It was cool, but I don't have gomme syrup made, so I made due. Check it out, it's delicious and super simple.
Shake vigorously in a tin with ice. Shake it like it owed you money. You want it COLD and FROTHY. Strain into a coupe glass if big enough, or dirty dump into a glass. I was lazy, and I like the ice. Sit back and drink something that is so simple, yet so fantastic, and yes, you will want another. I'm just telling you right now, you'll probably have two. It's so stupid simple, yet so magnificent. On an aside, I tried a variant that used home made lime cordial in lieu of turbinado syrup. It was good, but the lime "confused" the pineapple, so while it was good, it was not as clean as the variant without. I would like to try this with real gum arabic, because the thickened texture and mouthfeel was a huge allure of the original from the late 1800s. Also a superior spirit (mine is not) would likely create a superior product. [link] [comments] |
