Day 8: Pauline

Day 8: Pauline

Used Planteray 3 Stars for the rum, semi-rich simple syrup (1.5:1), Death & Co. house orange bitters (Fees, Regans, Angostura), and Vieux Pontarlier absinthe, with fresh grated nutmeg.

I'm always amazed at how the simplest cocktails are the best. I think the nutmeg, absinthe, and pinch of salt (don't have saline around) added a nice savory element, and this was delicious all-around. I did both a dash of absinthe in the shaker as well as the absinthe rinse, and also an extra dash of the orange bitters, to give it just a little extra.

  • 1½ oz. Planteray 3 Stars rum
  • ¾ oz. lemon juice
  • ½ oz. semi-rich simple syrup
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 1 dash Vieux Pontarlier Absinthe
  • pinch of salt

Add all ingredients to shaker, give an absinthe rinse to a chilled Nick & Nora glass, shake and strain. Fresh grated nutmeg garnish.
