Didn't have any cognac, and didn't feel like spending $80-100 CAD for a bottle, but I read here that St. Remy VSOP or XO would be a good substitute so...

• 2 oz St. Remy VSOP
• 1 oz Dry Vermouth
• 1/2 oz Odd Society Creme De Cassis (Vancouver distillery)
• Barspoon of Lemon Juice

Combine in a mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled. Strain in a chilled cocktail glass, lemon peel garnish.

I didn't know what to expect - my first experience with brandy and creme de cassis. Enjoyed it!
