Inspired by my favorite movie, Apocalypse Now! Mainly the scene where Willard is confronting Kurtz at the end of the movie and he asks, “Are my methods unsound?” Cask strength whiskey, Cynar, and absinthe are all pretty brash and divisive flavors, but they work so well together. It’s dark, earthy, bitter, and rich. You get the bitter herbal notes from the cynar and absinthe first- comes across almost like a minty root beer. These are lifted by the lemon, and then transitions into a nutty and caramel finish. I’m super pleased with how this turned out and excited to put together more originals!
