Ballechin 11 yo Oloroso matured - Review
| Hello All, Please welcome my first review here: Ballechin 11 y/o Oloroso Sherry Matured
Color: Old oak Nose: Very nice, somewhat complex: earthy smoke, sweet spices, dried fruits and some light citrus notes. Very Lagavulin-y minus the sea salt. Palate: Oloroso sherry dried fruit notes prevail accompanied by an elegant smoky-ashy taste. Some rhinoceros leathery notes traceable. Not overly complex but absolutely balanced, the palate also resembles a Lagavulin as well. Bonus point that although it’s almost 60%, it’s very easy to drink. Finish: Medium-long, dark chocolate notes with drying ash. Oh my, oh my what a dram! Honestly I wasn’t aware of Ballechin until I read about it here, so when I had the chance I picked up a bottle. I am a big Lagavulin fan, and this whisky delivers everything I love in it (except the maritime notes), but at a friendlier price point and at higher ABV. Everything is in its place, beautifully balanced with all those notes I adore. Genius! Solid 9/10 from me! [link] [comments] |
