Review #1 Boondocks 11 year

So this is my first ever review. Probably not going to be as polished as some others. But I figured why the hell not? I’m just a regular dude. No expertise here. Maybe this will help out some others out there that aren’t expertly well versed in the bourbon/whiskey world and are just looking for the opinions of other regular dudes.

Age: 11 years Proof: 95 Purchase: $10 auction find. Couldn’t pass it up at that price.

Nose: light apple and pear. Buttery corn. But also pungent alcohol that I wouldn’t expect from this age and proof.

Palate: great consistency and mouthfeel. Toasted marshmallow. A little caramel. Delicately sweet but in the right ways. Way more mellow than the nose lead on.

Finish: that marshmallow sweetness lingers and finishes into light oak and honey.Honestly, it leaves me excited for that next sip.

Overall: for a $10 auction find, this is an incredible value. It goes down incredibly easy. It’s perfectly sweet without being cloying. Honestly, knowing nothing about this bottle and being able to grab this particular age at $10 I had incredibly low expectations. But I can say i would easily grab this regularly in the $65+ range on shelves. It far exceeded my expectations.

Rating: 7.5/10ga
