Review #6 - EH Taylor Full Proof Uncut and Unfiltered

Disclaimer, the photo shown is not my bottle because I spent the last 18 hours smoking pork butt, which in all honesty is now my new favorite thing to do because that was delicious!

Now to the bourbon; I got this bottle for secondary pricing. I thought I try and build a relationship with this store and ended up paying a lot more than I should have, but I’m sure I’m not the only person who has done this, right? ???? I truly was infatuated with this bottle and thought that it could be everything I wanted it to be. So before I dive deeper, let’s go into the review:

Nose: oak char, and lots of it, dark red fruit, pepper with a slight hint of vanilla (artificial kinda type)

Palette: a toasted vanilla sundae, lots of oak, charred cherries

Finish: very long in pepper finish, light rye (even though I believe this is BT Mashbill 1), grape or jelly jam

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s really break it down juice and all. I wanted to love this, love it so much that buying it for above secondary would be worth it. In all honesty, I would have to say this is one of my biggest let downs. I’m not saying the juice is bad at all, but it’s just not what I thought I would be getting. This week I picked up a single barrel for an eighth of the price and I can almost guarantee you that that will be more fulfilling than this bottle. I’m sad and disappointed that this is at where it’s at, but I can only hope that this can beat the single barrel I bought for $79 (compared to the $400+ that these go for).

Score: 6.5
