My first Gunpla, a beginner’s experience

Hi everyone! This post isn’t very interesting in itself, but I’m so proud of my very first Gunpla that I wanted to share it with you, and also give some feedback from a complete beginner’s perspective.

The build took me about ~2 months, which is quite long, but for several reasons. First of all… breakages. ???? I first broke a piece of the right arm, and since there were no spare parts left in stock on Bandai’s website, I struggled quite a bit trying to fix it. In the end, I had the idea to check if other models used the same part and bingo! But between ordering and receiving the parts, it took about a week and a half. And then... I broke another part during the final assembly... another 1.5 weeks again.

What also took me a lot of time were the water decals! I spent almost 2 weeks on them. The hardest part was just getting started, especially when you look at the last page of the manual with the full list of stickers... ???? I did take the opportunity to add a small personal touch though, with my initials and the number 01, since this is my very first model.

In the end, I’m happy with the result, even if it’s far from perfect, especially when it comes to panel lining, which I’m still not very good at.

I also reused an idea I saw on this subreddit: using the box to create a display card for the model, and honestly, it turned out great! ????

So yeah, this was mainly just an excuse to show the result, but I’m really happy with it! Now all that’s left is to find my next model!
