Finally worked out getting the clear coat to go down without reacting to the underlayers. I've been polishing it with fine grit sandpaper, this is at 8000 (not fully washed of yet). I'm planning to use Tamiya polishing compound to hopefully bring the gloss to a high enough level to reflect how glossy it is in real life.
