New year, new Gramps, new color scheme

I’ve built so many damn RX-78’s it’s about time to paint one in the G3 color scheme, and man I’m happy with how this one turned out, I feel like I nailed the classic G3 color scheme in the RG format.

As for the kit itself, modern RG, it’s great, duh. That said, there are some elements I’m not wild about, because I feel like Bandai was trying to fix problems that weren’t really there. Not super wild about the knee and elbow joints, where you sort of slide parts in and have to bend them back out, not the most natural of assembly, there were a few times where I thought they were in, went to bend, immediately felt like something was gonna break because they weren’t. Also, not very intuitive to take apart if you’re going to paint. The holding hands are also kind of awkward to put together around the weapons. Both those elements just seem to be making things a touch more complicated than they need to be, not sure if I want to see them move forward with those design philosophies.

Also pro tip if you’re painting: don’t assemble the crotch v part in pre-assembly, the red piece that plugs into the frame basically locks the white part around it to the frame and it impossible to get that red part out without having to drill from like kind of the back/side of the white piece.
