Epic fail camo moment

So I tried making my first model - Tamiya M48A3 Patton... Everything was going swimmingly then I decided to do a camo paint job... It looks like a 5yo vomited on my model... I used blu tack to mask. Applied first base coat of dark green, then did red brown and park green. Realised everything looked to cartoon-tank-ish so I masked some of it and did a final coat of dark green. In retrospect the park green was way too light... I don't really think I can salvage this but perhaps it'll look better when I look at it with the rose-tinted lenses of retrospect in a month... Any advice for camo matching and basically painting camps? I used spray cans for all of this... Airbrush still otw... Any tips haha
