Paint Brush vs. Markers vs. Air Brush

Paint Brush vs. Markers vs. Air Brush

I am trying to figure out if this hobby is right for me. I've delved into multiple rabbit holes of hobbies and find that the true friction for me is accessibility (might not be the most fitting word).

I've always liked the look of extremely intricate, high detail items that is also about the size of my palm. In this case 1/144, more specifically RG kits. And having seen the customizations beyond panel lining and waterslide decals, like real metallic bits and painting.

Here is where that "friction" is for me, I'm not sure how committed I will be to the point where I'll buy/install an airbrush station. I am living in an apartment, so ventilation will be a problem. I could probably go out to the park and paint against some cardboard box, but I personally don't find that very enjoyable - let alone having to lug around an air compressor.

All of that ^ to ask, is there a way to paint Gunpla bits that gives similar quality when compared to Airbrushing (I'm assuming airbrush is the best paint method?)

And generally, are these painted pieces (referring to all painting methods) still good for posing and play?
