Cool feature of WiiM Ultra for vinyl lovers with a phono preamp
| I recently purchased a WiiM Ultra to play around with after the intriguing Huff review and I must say particularly with the most recent software update I have not been disappointed in the slightest. One feature of this unit which has great surprised me is when I connected my nicely restored vintage turntable going through my very treasured Project Tube Box S2 (w/LPS & matching Gold Dragon 12AX7s) to the Line In of the WiiM and bypassed using the internal Wiim phono preamp I found all my vinyl collection was being processed at a 24 bit/192 kHz resolution before I assume going through the the room correction software as well. What I hear is my vinyl collection being processed digitally thru the WiiM sounds freaking amazing! Old well kept records seem to have a much deeper, wider and more detailed soundstage than ever before and well recorded vinyl sounds nearly as good as an SACD equivalent! Granted it’s not all truly ‘analog’ but it sounds impressively well. Thought you all might like to hear about this and please let me know what you think. [link] [comments] |
