Black September in Jordan was a violent conflict in 1970 triggered by Palestinian militant groups, primarily the PLO, who attempted to undermine Jordanian sovereignty and create a “state within a state.” Their actions included hijackings, assassinations, and open defiance of King Hussein’s authority, endangering Jordan’s stability and civilians. The Jordanian army responded decisively, crushing the insurgency and restoring order by expelling the militants to Lebanon.
