A neighbor of the Frank family, Eva knew Anne before they were all forced into hiding. Eva and her mother survived Auschwitz-Birkenau for 9 months until liberation but lost her father and brother in the camps. She and her mother returned to Amsterdam after the war, where they met Otto Frank - the family’s lone survivor. Eva’s mother and Otto eventually married, making her Anne’s posthumous stepsister. Eva is still alive today.
