Should the new update include mount summoning?
| We've come a long way from riding pigs and the game now has more mounts than ever, and they're wildly versatile for a number of different environments. Problem is they're still just mobs, and it's a pain to go exploring and have to keep track of where they're tethered, or worry about them wandering off while you're headed into a cave or exploring some ruins. Given that all the mounts now have distinct use case niches as well, and the effort going into introducing new mechanics with them it'd be good to incentivize their use by making them less of a hassle to manage. Goat horns are another one of many mostly unused items in game, imagine being able to enchant one or something and bind it to a specific tamed creature to call. Exploring would be considerably more viable if you didn't have to ditch your horse when you hit an ocean and could instead call up your nautilus, or imagine how much more valuable striders would be if they didn't have to stay in the same lava pit that you found them. I recently installed a mod that allows for callable horses and it's fundamentally changed my relationship with mounts in game from something I never used to being an integral part of my gameplay that I think would be even more interesting with the current trajectory of development. But would that be overpowered or unfeasible to have a mount available at any time or location? [link] [comments] |
