The simplest setup that really works

When I first decided to sleep in my car, I was convinced I had to build something complicated: sliding drawers, hinges, maybe even a folding table. I thought there was no other way. But then I discovered you don’t really need all that. A few pieces of plywood, a simple wooden frame, and some space for storage boxes were enough. That was it.

It was ridiculously simple, but it worked. I could set it up or take it apart in minutes, it was comfortable to sleep on, and I didn’t have to spend weeks in the garage building. Instead of working on the build, I could just hit the road. And in that simplicity, I felt the most freedom.

Over time my setup evolved, new things were added. But I still feel like that first, simplest version had the most magic in it.

What about you? Did you start with something simple, or go straight for a more advanced build?
