Adding a black tank to a cargo trailer
| I have this 6x14 +V cargo trailer, all aluminum body and frame, so it’s only 1400 lbs. it started life as a wheelhouse…that is with a manual drop down system to drop down to the ice for ice fishing. I had the drop system removed, body raised, new axle/springs installed. I mean to pull it around the west behind my 2014 FJ. It’s been to Alaska and back before mods, so I have good confidence it’s up to the task. It’s currently empty inside, and I mean to keep it as light as possible. So…Trying to decide on a waste system. No plans for “running” water in this rig, In the past I’ve done a bucket/bag and thought I’d upgrade to a compost toilet. But…I read there are lands out west where camping is not allowed without an actual black tank minimum 10 gallons. So…could I add a 10-20 gallon and position a commode above it, letting gravity do the work, and a spray bottle/small pump sprayer to flush? Easy enough to position it in front of the axle so clearance wouldn’t be a problem, and the drain valve would be well positioned for emptying. How to run a vent I haven’t figured out yet. I wouldn’t be relying on this system or using it routinely, I want it mainly to satisfy the rules, and will use other methods much of the time (pit/vault toilets/CG’s, etc…) Thoughts?
