I kept doing BBQ math wrong, so I built a free calculator to fix it.
| Hey everyone, I love smoking meat, but I have a bad habit of messing up the timing. I tend to underestimate the stall, or I forget to factor in the rest time. My family ends up eating brisket at 9:30 PM, or I’m waking up at 2 AM to do mental math on when to fire up the smoker. Being a dev, I spent the last few weekends building a simple web app to do the thinking for me. It’s called The Smart Pitmaster. You tell it: What you're cooking (Brisket, Pork Butt, Ribs, Turkey, etc.) The weight The temp you smoke at (225°F vs 275°F) When you want to eat It works backward and generates a full schedule (When to light the fire, when to wrap, when to pull, and when to rest). I also added a Cook Log: I realized many factors (weather, different rubs) impact the result, and I kept forgetting what I did last time. So I built a logbook to save the data for future reference. It’s free to use (no ads). I mainly built it for myself but figured this sub might find it useful. Link: https://smartpitmaster.com/ Any feedback is welcomed! [link] [comments] |
