[Dahua M3] video + review

Classic “I turn now good luck everyone else” from the parking lane to the left on a no turn road.

Anyway, I believe this is the first review of the Dahua M3 on Reddit. The video resolution is alright. Although the camera claims to be 1440p and the app even has a 1600p option, it’s using the IMX323 so anything over 1080p is useless upscaling. I can see number plates during the day about 2 or 3 cars ahead. It doesn’t seem to have HDR cause often when I’m going into a tunnel or out of it the sky gets blown out. During night I couldn’t read most number plates but it can still see well enough in case an accident happens. You can choose the recorded videos to be 1, 2, or 3 minutes long each and adjust collision sensitivity. The voice commands are set in stone and written in the manual so you can’t change them. For example, you have to say “open recording” to start recording. Any other sentence doesn’t work which sucks. The app does the job. Wireless video transfers aren’t very fast but not slow either, and you will rarely do that so it’s not an issue. Each minute of recording is 90mb and takes about 20-30s to transfer. The mic has very low sensitivity, I have to scream for it to hear me say commands and really crank up my phone’s volume to listen to its audio. For $30-35, I am very satisfied and if it lasts long I would recommend it as a first dashcam. After all, any dashcam is better than no dashcam.
