For the last 6 or so weeks, I’ve been using the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2, which is powered by the rear view mirror via the Dongar Adapter.

Everything was going smoothly until recently, when the dash cam began having connection issues. It will constantly disconnect and reconnect multiple times throughout the drive. The light will turn from red to off, then to green, then back to red. This can be a constant cycle that pauses/skips the recording. See video for example of skipped footage.

I spoke with Garmin customer support and the issue appears to be from the power source. Specifically, the dash cam thinks it is being connected to a computer (hence the green light), and once it figures out my car is not a computer, it then reconnects to my phone/app. The frustrating part is that it only started happening recently - I have had no issues for the first 30 days. Why is it just now having issues?

Also, sometimes it just goes away and works perfectly fine..?.? Sometimes it disconnects/reconnects a few times, sometimes it disconnects/reconnects dozens of times, and sometimes it’s a good little boy and doesn’t disconnect a single time!

Has anyone else experienced this or similar issues? Tbh, I REALLY don’t want to hardwire a long cord around my trim and loose one of the USB ports in the front. I almost rather just buy a different dash cam that actually works via the rear view mirror.
