So, I'm going to modify a simple sponge filter and add an air stone. My question is:

Should I use a long tube or a shorter tube?

In this Aquarium Co-Op video (02:15) they recommend putting a shorter tube like 2., but I see that most people use a long tube like number 1.

Which is the best method? Or really, it doesn't matter at all?
