Hydra in shrimp tank?
| New fish tank keeper here, I have a young but cycled 15g shrimp tank going, and have noticed hydra popping up before adding shrimp. Have not been over feeding the tank, as there has been no food added other than plant food (seachem’s flourish excel). Been dosing the tank with the excel once every couple days at about 1mL. Went to my LFS where I bought all my gear and plants, and they suggested for me to purchase a small school of rasbora to eat the hydra. I did not want to go that route, as I really only want shrimp and possibly a betta later down the line. They instead gave me Fenbendazole to dose the tank with. I’ve read that will kill all the other beneficial worms that are in the substrate, including my snails. I wouldn’t mind the bladder snails getting got, but I have some really pretty ramshorns that I’d love to keep. Is it worth nuking the tank to rid of the hydra, or wait until I am able to get a betta for him to take care of the hydras? Hydra haven’t taken over the tank, so I’m not too worried yet. Any and all advice is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
