I ordered this dress for a theater costume because it fit the director’s vision for my character. However, the dress top is waaaaay too big and on clearance/sold out so I can’t get a difference size. I got multiple quotes for alterations ($130-$160) but the theater won’t reimburse me. For that price, I could just find a different dress but I’m struggling to find similar items. What would you call this style?

Alternatively, I could chop it in half and turn it I to a skirt but I’m having trouble finding similar tops. What would this top be called? A “3/4 sleeve mini blazer”?

I’m not a fashion-savvy person and my searches have been ineffective and inefficient. Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
